Novel Writing

American Christian Fiction Writers ‘The End’ badge, signifying that I have completed the end of my first draft.

The End leads to The Beginning, of the next stage

I wrote The End, at least to the first draft. I have been working on my first novel gradually for several years now, and am currently in the stages of reviewing, refining, editing, and looking for an appropriate publisher.

A story of a teen who gets pregnant

The story centres around a young teenage girl who finds herself pregnant.  We go through with her the ensuing emotions and choices that she must make and the path that her life takes over the next several years.

It’s not only about her

The thing is, when this happens it’s not only the girl who’s affected by it. Like the ripples radiating out from a pebble breaking the surface of a pond, everyone around her is affected. Her partner, if he is still around and knows about it, her parents and siblings. The societies that she is a part of–perhaps school, church, or workplace. Relatives and friends. Even friends that haven’t met her yet. The people or programs that exist for the purpose of helping. So, to tell the complete story I include voices from a number of characters in her life. It’s not primarily a Young Adult novel; it changes the lives of all the people in her world. It’s also the story of how they react, how they change, how they help her and find joy together.

This is fiction

Much of my inspiration comes from the Crisis Pregnancy Centre where I worked as a peer counselor and administrative assistant.  This story is entirely fiction, and neither the characters nor the offices or schools mentioned are real.

Although I wrote The End, I’m now at the beginning of the next phase–getting published–perhaps an even bigger hurdle. Here’s hoping!

I’ll give you a little excerpt here, taken from a section of the book. https://pearladapridham.com/2018/12/06/excerpt-from-my-novel/ Please be bold and give me some feedback.  I need some!
